  1. New GCP region in South America, Chile.

New GCP region in South America - Chile.

5 reasons why Google should check Chile. (Just check N5, will be enough)

    1) Is the largest country in world, which pretty much goes through almost all South America. Chile stretches over 4,300 km (2,670 mi) from north to south which it is possible to encompass all the South America region (Pacific Ocean).

    2) The economy of Chile is a high-income economy as ranked by the World Bank,[19] and is considered as South America's most stable and prosperous nation.

    3) Chile has a lot of potential for block-chain development. As the government…

  3. Make GPU instances support OpenGL V4.0 or greater

Title says it all. Currently instances with both type of GPU (P100 and K80) support OpenGL 1.1 only. Prehistoric!

  6. Build VM image from script

I want a way to build VM images like a Dockerfile builds container images. I currently use a startup script, but the build process can be slow and unstable. I would rather start with a Google-provided base image, run my script once, and save it as a custom image from which I can create VMs. I need full VMs for my application because containers do not support certain features like SELinux.

  7. Add option to retrieve host fingerprint for SSH and RDP in console

Similarly to what is currently available on AWS EC2 (though it is in a log), it would be very useful to have an option in the console to display host key fingerprints for both SSH and RDP.

This seems like a serious oversight given its importance in establishing host integrity over the open Internet.

The firewall rule defaults of open RDP and SSH also seem a bit ludicrous, but I'll leave than for another post.

  8. Support adding container options and disable stackdriver logging when deploy container in VM

There is no way to add docker options when deployed a container image to VM. It is very useful when we want to limit the log size ($ docker run -it --log-opt max-size=10m --log-opt max-file=3 alpine ash). Also, I hope that there can be an option to disable stackdriver logging in COS.

  9. add notes or comments to resources

Add the ability to add notes or comments to resources, and make them visible to other users, for example it would be useful to add a note that an instance can be deleted, that way other user with right permissions can see and proceed with the deletion of the resource.

  13. Persistent Disk SLA documentation

It will be helpful to have a documentation of SLAs for Persistent Disk as Compute Engine SLA doc only refers to the VM instance and Load Balancer. Since PD is zonal and regional, SLA will be different.

  16. "Set enable-oslogin in project-wide metadata so that it applies to all of the instances in your project: Go to the Metadata page.

"Set enable-oslogin in project-wide metadata so that it applies to all of the instances in your project:

    Go to the Metadata page.

    Go to the Metadata page
    Click Edit.
Add a metadata entry where the key is enable-oslogin and the value is TRUE. Alternatively, set the value to FALSE to disable the feature.
Click Save to apply the changes.

    "

There is no edit button. The only button is to add metadata, which takes a key value pair. there is no option to turn on os-logon here

  17. deployment manager debug output

When deploying templates via deployment manager, it would be helpful to be able to set a debug flag, which would provide more verbose details about what steps the deployment manager is going through to accomplish the creation of all relevant resources.

  18. Committed Use Discounts : vCPU & RAM reserved VS currently used

On the Committed Use Discounts page, it can be very useful to have to have the difference between the reserved vCPU + RAM and the actual amount of vCPU + RAM currently used.

  20. Schedule Hardware Upgrades

Changing RAM/Core count requires to shutdown the machine, editing it and starting it again.

It would be nice if one could schedule a hardware upgrade so that all of this happens automatically at a chosen time and date. This would result in minimal downtime for non-redundant system.
