Move files from GCE to Drive and back.
I wish there was a way to easily move files from my compute instance to my Google Drive account. That way I could more easily transfer files between my compute instances rather than having to zip/host/download/upload/unhost/delete.
Thanks, we’ll consider this. Drive is more of a consumer oriented product, but there are cases where we see users wanting to do this.
The common way to share files between machines would be GCS, have you investigated that? There are a number of solutions like gcsfuse that let you treat a bucket like a network drive, too. This should eliminate most of the steps, just upload to bucket, download from bucket.
I'd pay for a Google Prime targeted at developers that integrates google's offerings really well (gmail, drive, search, cloud)
Please please implement this

Drive is only a consumer product in Google's mind. Given how many companies use G Suite (of which Drive is a part) as their core communications platform (and some like @Ron Jarrell have huge amounts of users) it's really more of an enterprise than consumer tool, esp, if you are paying $ thousands a month for using it....
Having a version of the transfer appliance that accepts G Suite URLs and is smart about permissions etc. would be really welcome, esp, when moving hundreds of gigs from G Suite to GCP Storage.

For sites like us that are heavy GSuite users, a lot of those files are in gdrive already, it seems a pretty logical extension that there ought to be a way I can export/import my files in gdrive into either an instance or a bucket. Don't think of gdrive as a consumer tool; there are countless enterprises that are using it for production work daily; I've got 160,000 users with drive storage for instance, with team drives that have the former contents of entire departmental file servers.

i concur. i too realize that Drive is consumer and Cloud is not; but for management and partitioning of control, it would be great to have some tool be able to move between them.
* would support Chromebook as a simple and reliable data management tool.
* ACLs on Cloud for security.
* website and other online-data authoring and maintenance from Chromebook or laptop or even Android.
i realize creeping featuritis plagues things like this, but it's really just the bucket fundamentals that matter: read, write, create, delete. everything else can be done in an app on the hardware (real or virtual).
