  1. Support Dart

    Support Dart for cloud functions.

The Dart VM would be perfect for cloud functions.

  2. Support for Memorystore

Currently, Cloud Functions are not able to connect to Cloud Memorystore so a workaround has to be used which is far from ideal.

  4. Support for python

Currently, cloud functions only support javascript. It would be really great if python is also supported.

  6. Support Docker Images

We should be able to use arbitrary docker images as cloud functions.

  7. Ability to rename functions

It would be easier to be able to rename an existing cloud functions, instead of needing to copy with the new name and then deleting the old one.

  9. Authentication with Service Account

An authentication mechanism might be good for Cloud Functions. Pub/Sub for example checks the requests sent by client and return appropriate error message. But for functions, there is no authentication mechanism. Now, we're using the auth barear taken from pub/sub service account and verify the scope and ID of the token. It can be implemented in the service level, not by end-users.

  10. Specify allocated CPU

At the moment, we can only specify the allocated memory which automatically adjusts the allocated CPU. One of our function needs only 30Mb but a maximum of CPU. It could be great to be able to specify the allocated CPU regardless the allocated memory. And be able to add a huge amount of CPU.

  12. Provide a good developer experience for running functions and pubsub locally together

A lot of developers use pubsub and cloud functions together.
Either through examples or with tooling you should provide a good developer experience when developing a pubsub/cloud functions flow.
