UPDATE: IPv6 load balancer endpoints are now GA.1 However, we continue to work on instance-level v6 addressing. Since I believe that at least some votes on this issue are for v6 all the way to the instance, I am leaving this issue open.

But stackdriver is intend to monitor apps not the VM as a machine. If the server is hacked and have malicious software installed that consume lot of bandwidth stackdriver will be unable to detect and alert of that. For example linode provides default alerting for outbound traffic rate as default so we can detect problems in a server that is configurable.
I tried with newrelic but they only alert on CPU, disk I/O, memory usage.
